Perspective is Key

Hi guys,

Thank you all for your support and words of encouragement on my earlier post! You are all so sweet! I think perspective is gonna be key for getting through the surgery. I need to remember that it's just a few weeks out of my life. Yea it's scary, but it needs to be done. And not too long from now, it will just be a memory :) I have another meeting next Wednesday, this time with the surgeon himself. I just met with the nurses today. I saw the surgeon last year--I forget if I mentioned it, but we found out I need the surgery last summer. However, they couldn't fit me early enough before school started to give me time to heal. So I'm meeting with the surgeon again just to review what he's going to do.

So I started my day off with a lovely pumpkin banana greek yogurt parfait with a deep chocolate vitatop. I also had a spoon of dark chocolate dreams pb to eat it with.

So yummy!

Mmmm!

Before my surgery consultation, I had a snack of a rice cake with pumpkin, the rest of the sliced banana from the morning, and a few dabs of mighty maple peanut butter.

It was good! It probably would have tasted even better with some carob chips.

I was at the doctors for 2 hours, and I was hungry when I got back! Thankfully I had packed an apple that I ate in the car.

When I got back at 2, I had a huge salad--the usual with TJ's beef-less strips and Annie's marinade.

My kind of comfort food :D

I also had a little cereal in a small tupperware bowl:

It had Honey Kix, Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Crunch, and I also went back for some Kashi Strawberry Fields. I added a little PB2 to the skim milk.

I also cut up a cantaloupe and had a lot of it for a snack. I wasn't too hungry for dinner, but my Mom made a yummy tofu dish.

This is Pan-Seared Tofu with the Annie's Island Marinade (hmm, do you think I'm going overboard on this sauce? Haha.), with veggies and a royal rice blend.

I went to the gym with my sister and did a nice 45 minutes on the arc trainer. I just had some carrots and more canteloupe--and that brings us to now!

Ok so my day tomorrow is CRAZY BUSY! I have an MRI at 7:30 tomorrow morning, and I have to be there by 7:00 am. My mom is awesome, and will be going with me. We'll have to leave about 6:35am though. Ugh.

Then I have an appointment with the dentist at 11:00 cause I had a tiny gray spot on my tooth last time. They've been watching it for a while, and they said it's not a big deal but they want to do a small filling to be safe. Since I'm away at school most of the year, they want to take care of it just in case it got bigger. They said it'd be really quick--I hope so!

And after that, I have an appointment with the chiropractor at 2:00. Crazy! So I've got to try and get to bed soon, since I'll be getting up super early. Ugh. Oh well, it could be worse! And it's nice that my mom is coming with me--that definitely takes a lot of stress off.

Ok bloggies, I've got a question for you! Since I'll be stuck in bed for a few days to a week after surgery, I'm going to need stuff to keep me occupied.
What are some of your favorite books, movies, or tv shows (that I could get on DVD or watch online)?

I'll start collecting stuff pretty soon. My mom and I are going to go shopping, so that'll be fun!

Well, have a lovely night everyone! See you (sometime!) tomorrow.

Good luck with all the appointments girl!

I'd say buy yourself some sex and the city dvds (if you haven't already gotten into that), OR old beverly hills 90210 episodes! I started watching weeds (online) with friends during school, and that show is pretty addicting too! Hope those are shows you'd be interested in! OH, and Jodi Picoult books are great!

SATC, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars and Buffy. All good but now gone shows. Get the DVD sets and enjoy yourself.

I also like to read Sophie Kinsella and Libby Street. Good 'ol chick lit.

Wishing your luck!

I hope today goes well!

Ooh, yay for Veronica mars! That was our favorite show - we were so sad when it got the shaft.

James Patterson's Women's Murder Club series is really good and easy to read if you like murder mystery type books.

I'm loving your yogurt parfaits. Pumpkin stirs so nicely into Greek yogurt..so creamy and delish.

As for movies, etc, I have pretty eclectic taste. I like Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy..you should rent August Rush if you haven't seen it as a fellow musician. Hm..I like reading classics and some modern lit, but I don't remember the last time I got to actually read a book I wanted to read!

I recommend getting the entire box set of Scrubs- best show ever and so funny. I got my set pretty cheap on eBay! I also like the Shopaholic series for light entertainment...

When you are in bed I recommend Friends episodes on dvd. They will make you laugh and forget about the pain. I am also really into Jodi Picolt books at the moment. You can always blog a lot :)
