You Guys Are the Best

Hey guys!

Thank you so, so much for your suggestions! I'm going to Lowe's today to look for a wireless alarm. I'm sure that'll make me feel a lot safer. I don't have a tv in my apartment, so I can't really watch that. We're not allowed to have dogs, but I can get a permit for a kitty. I might start checking out the Humane Society, cause that sounds like a good idea.

I ended up taking one of my non-panic attack pills that I use for flying (my mom, a doc, gave me the go-ahead) and I slept straight until 8:25 this morning. I was a little nervous lying in bed afterwards cause when people open and unlock their doors it sounds like they're unlocking mine. But it was okay, and I slept until about 10:20. I'm still exhausted from only getting several hours of sleep the previous night, but it was great not to have nightmares.

Again, thanks a million for your sweet suggestions! Alright, so I've got a race tonight--eek! I honestly have NO idea how this is gonna go. I haven't run in Arizona since my last race out here (April 25). Though it's a night race, it's still gonna be 100 degrees at 7pm. But in AZ, when the sun goes down it feels MUCH cooler. And I know my body deals alright in the heat (aka I won't pass out or anything), and it's just a 5k.

I have a meal/hydration plan for today to minimize tummy distress. I won't be eating any fruit, other than a potential apple as a snack. The fructose can make my tummy a little weird if I have too much fruit, and normally that's not much of a concern for me. But since I'll be running at such a high intensity tonight, I want to minimize all potential gastronomic issues. I'll be drinking a ton of water today, and if I want a salad for lunch it's gotta be small on the lettuce front. Hopefully, a salmon burger will sound good to me. Then I'll be eating an oatmeal dinner at 4:45-5:00 before I leave at 5:15. I know oatmeal before races has worked for me before, so I'm not jinxing it. The race is at 7, which should give me enough time to digest. I'm pretty sure they have food afterwards, but I'll bring something just in case.

I had a delicious breakfast today! I'm about out of greek yogurt, so I used Siggi's vanilla yogurt with a little cinnamon, a deep chocolate vitatop, and a spoon of dark chocolate dreams pb:

It was amazing! The vanilla icelandic yogurt combined so well with the chocolate vitatop. It was like marble cheesecake for breakfast.

Then I had 2 cups of coffee in my sassy-pants mug (I am still exhausted, though!)

Before I go, I want to show you the top of my parfait from yesterday. It's topped with 3 dried apple rings. But doesn't it look like the dude's face from the painting "The Scream?"

Comparison:

Haha! Alright lovelies, I hope you have a beautiful day. I'm off to Lowe's to look for an alarm system now :)

First of all, GOOD LUCK ON THE RACE!!!!! You'll be great! :D

Second... Missed your earlier post. I am going through an almost identical thing right now- I say 'almost' because I've been in my place for 3 weeks today and it's just the last couple of days that I've started to feel safe. Not going to lie- it was horrible at first (especially without phone, cellphone reception or internet!). The weird noises were a biggie. i also live on the ground floor so there were noises outside and major paranoia that a brick/murdered would come flying through my window. GIVE IT TIME. meeting a couple of my neighbours helped- just seeing who lived next door and reassuring myself that there was a familiar face helped. I replaced the lock on my main door and put a chain on. I sleep with my cellphone by my bed and try to keep things in perspective and not let my imagination get the best of me...

I hope you're killin' it in the race right now!

oh man, I had to do a report on Edvard Munch (the guy who painted "The Scream") and he was MESSED UP! Poor guy. But anyway, I think it was supposed to represent the interal turmoil of the modern man (in a slightly autobiographical way)...fun stuff.
