Halloween (and School) Mania!

Hey guys!

Super quick post, since I've been swamped with school. I had a Career Project due today that was a huge chunk of my grade, and it caused me some major stress. I also had a Psychology exam this morning, which I think went pretty well. I only got 4 hours of sleep last night--and I had trouble falling asleep cause I was worried I would oversleep! Haha, don't you hate that?

I also have a History paper due tomorrow. I've done the reading and made some notes, but I haven't started writing the actual paper. It's 500-700 words, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

I went to Target over the weekend, and I was thrilled to see all the Halloween stuff! I had a lot of fun browsing, and couldn't resist getting a few things:

I got a Halloween magazine, a pumpkin tin bucket and a little decorative pumpkin. It's hollow, so it was only $3.50, but it's so cute! I put it next to my other pumpkin (lol)... and cacti garden and bamboo plant.

Like a pumpkin patch in a desert ;)

They also had this set of plastic Halloween paddle balls--a sort of party favor thing. And because I'm actually 8 years old, I had to get them. They were only $1! Since they're cheap quality, it's hard to get a long (or even medium) chain of hits. But I've definitely spent a lot of time trying! It's so fun, haha. Don't judge ;)

Oh! And I had to get candy corn, too--aka tri-color pieces of joy. Seriously, this stuff makes me so happy :D And Brach's is a good kind. It doesn't have that artificial aftertaste that some other brands do. Must be cause it's "made with real honey," as advertised... and sugar and corn syrup ;) But not HFCS, so I guess we're good there! I love having a small amount as a treat once a day or so in the Fall. I figure a little bit won't kill me, and I really do love it! It reminds me of being a kid :)

I also have had this Fall wreath hanging in my apartment for a little while. Isn't it pretty?

I made the best batch of roasted veggies last night! Don't they just look so delicious?

I halved some brussels sprouts, green beans, chopped half of a sweet onion, and threw a few grape tomatoes in there. I seasoned them with salt + pepper, minced garlic, and sesame seeds. Then I baked them in my convection oven at 410 degrees, for about 20 minutes.

Afterwards, I dashed them with some liquid smoke:

I'm loving this! It tastes and smells like a BBQ :D And since I have no grill, I love having this option when I want a little smokey flavor.

I ate a lot of the veggies last night, then used the rest as a salad topper for lunch:

I also had an unpictured tofurkey sandwich at school, and I used the liquid smoke on the bread. So yummy!

I had pumpkin oats for the first time in a long time today (maybe a full week or so!):

I was out of bananas, so I sliced up an apple and used that instead. I've also got carob chips, cocoa powder, and unsweetened coconut in there, along with some dark chocolate dreams pb.

And here's a delicious greek yogurt concoction:

It has nectarine slices with a ginga ninja muffin + cinnamon, chilled in the freezer and drizzled with a bit of agave nectar. Yum!

Alright guys, I gotta get going! I have to start my paper then hit up my school's gym for a break to clear my head. I signed up for a 60-day Workout Challenge, where I try to go to as many fitness classes as I can. Then I get prizes for hitting landmarks for certain class numbers. Like, you can win a yoga or zumba CD, a workout t-shirt, a water bottle, a yoga mat, and the person who goes to the most gets a grand prize of some fancy schmancy watch, or a fitness pass for the spring semester and an IKEA giftcard. I love challenges! Especially where I can win stuff ;)

I'm also loving my Polar F6 watch!! It has an awesome feature where you can wirelessly transmit workout info into Polar Personal Trainer. I love using it in fitness classes to compare the heart rate I have in one class to another--and it also varies depending on the instructor. Some work ya harder!

Q: What's your favorite way to treat or reward yourself?

I looove getting massages, getting an iced coffee, and also browsing/shopping at Target. Or Whole Foods/Sunflower Market. Haha! Also, I love just being able to relax on the computer or something. But I definitely need to schedule a massage for Friday/Sat/Sun. or something. My neck and shoulders are so tight! Anyway, what about you? When you treat yourself, are you a spa person, retail therapy, or an out-to-eat person?

Have a lovely day, everyone!

I do that exact same thing when I have to wake up early...I probably wake up every hour throughout the night and look at the clock. In reality, I probably don't even need an alarm clock! haha

Lovin' all the Halloween goods....and my favorite way to treat myself is a pedicure!!

Candy corn! That is my most very favorite fall candy. I get obsessed with it and can't even have it in the house or I will eat a ton. My husband needs to hide the bag from me LOL!

Oooh your brussels sprouts and green beans look awesome! That's right up my alley!

What is this?
dark chocolate dreams pb.

Sounds really good! Where can I get it? Yum!

How do I treat myself...when I was your age, all of the above you mentioned. Now, a treat is my husband taking our child out of the house and I get 1 hour alone where no one needs me and I can internet surf, cook, or read a mag. Cheap thrills :)

Not being able to fall asleep because you're worried about not being able to fall asleep is THE WORST!!

I love your new fall decor!! Oh, candy corn.... ;)

That fitness thing sounds awesome! Winning prizes is certainly a plus!

I am all about the retail therapy!! Food, clothes, it doesn't matter! Once I left a physics exam and went straight to WFs :D

I hope school gets a little less stressful!!

I LOVE candy corn! We can't get it here- planning on stocking up :) I need to get brussel sprouts again- I love them roasted bu haven't had them since last winter! Crazy.

Best way to treat myself... I am with you on WF browsing! Haha. A night curled up under a cosy blanket watching a comedy is good, and sitting in Starbucks people watching is fun!

I love Sunflower market too!!! I'd have to say that's one of my favorite things to do!! Ha ha! I love your cactus garden! I know you hate Arizona but you have to admit those cactus are really beautiful (in their own way)! Also, I love how you said candy corn is "tri colored joy!" LOL! My sister would totally agree. She's a candy fanatic! :D

Excellent food choices. Its funny, you said you couldn't sleep because you were afraid you would oversleep, I have done that countless times, its soo frustrating.
