Are You At Risk?

Well guys, we made it through the half-way point of the week!

I started out with apple oats for breakfast, but this time with a tea twist:

While the water for the oats was boiling, I steeped this teabag in:

It turned out great!

For lunch, I packed 2 apples, an Oikos blueberry yogurt:

And my own salad dressing for lunch since I was planning on buying a salad. I was on campus for way longer than should be legal (9 hours). Most of the day went like this:

7:50: Walk outside apartment. Wonder what state I'm in because it's freaking COLD outside!

7:56: Catch lightrail

8:00 Get to campus and start 15 min walk to Kin class

8:35-9:25 Kinesiology 101 class

9:30: Decide the whole day just isn't going to work without more coffee. Hit up Starbucks.

9:40: Leave Starbucks with a grande coffee + stevia in a pretty festive holiday cup.

9:50-10:30: Go to the library and study eye and ear powerpoints for lab

10:45-11:35: Psychology 101 class. Learn about anxiety disorders. Also learn that part of my airplane panic attacks could be stemmed from watching my mom get scared on takeoffs and landings as a kid ;)

11:35-11:48: Bust my butt across campus to get to my next class on time, while also consuming 2 apples. They were small ;)

11:50-12:40: Obesity/Diabetes class. Listen to bitter rants about why our kids our fat, what has to be done, and what isn't being done.

12:45: Get my H1N1 vaccine outside the health services. They'd only give me the flumist cause I wasn't a high risk patient. Well, my age group (19-24) is at a higher risk, but I don't have any of the conditions that would prevent me from getting the nasal mist. They needed to conserve the shots for the patients not applicable for the nasal spray.

1-2: lunch and more powerpoint studying. Then, complaining with lab mates about lab ;)

2-5: Biology lab. Did well on the quiz, so that's a plus. It was our last lab! In 2 weeks we have our lab practical. Eek!

5: Finally head home!

I actually put a little effort into dinner tonight. I roasted up some brussels sprouts and also a portobello mushroom cap. I then made a hugh jass salad:

With a Moophrey veggie burger, brussels sprouts, and a cut up roasted portobello. I seasoned the veggies with salt + pepper and Jamaican jerk spice. The dressing was Annie's lite Honey mustard.

When the rest of the brussels sprouts finished cooking, I threw them over what was left of my salad, with a little (a lot of) spray butter and some extra seasoning:

I just love veggies! I feel so good when I eat em :)

I also had a Green Apple Pie yogurt that I added some cinnamon and vanilla protein powder to, and froze:

Yum :)

Q: Have you got your H1N1 vaccine? Are you planning to?

My family in Michigan got vaccinated a long time ago, but the vaccines just came to the ASU campus today. I always get vaccinated against the flu cause I just think it's a smart idea. What about you?

Yum - roasted brussels!
I got the seasonal flu vaccine for the first time ever in my life this year.

I am on the fence about the H1N1. We cannot even get it around here, so it's not even an option. I think they will have to ration it here, and I would give up mine for my husband to get it (he has asthma).

At my school, they're still only giving the vaccines to the highest priority people.. the people most at risk.. so I don't qualify yet :/

there aren't any H1N1 vaccines in my neck of the woods -- apparently CTers just aren't as important as everyone else ;)

tea infused oats are the best!!

Long day chicky! It is a brussels kind of night :) I have not gotten H1N1, but I did get the regular flu shot!

No flu shots of any kind yet but we are supposed to get them right after break.

Which means I will probably get sick this coming week :o)

Apple cider tea? Apple pie yogurt? Yum! Love fall & winter flavors! Today I saw that Odwalla has a pumpkin protein smoothie for fall. I was tempted to try it, but needed something warm to survive my freezing class.

OMG, those Brussel Sprouts looks so good....I'm totally getting some this weekend! :-)

There's a shortage of the vaccine in Canada, so my province is only allowing people with underlying medical conditions to get it. I probably won't be able to get it until after Christmas, and I suspect by then the threat will have passed...

I need to try the yogurt + protein powder combo.

I haven't had the vaccine- I fall into the high risk category, but there is a shortage here in the UK and I'm kind of veering towards taking the risk. Thre is so much controversy about the vaccine.

I also love veggies! They just make my body feel right on track. :)

I don't do vaccinations. Lots of reasons but they just aren't my thing. :)

Wait... I don't know if I read correctly.. It's COLD outside? In Arizona? CRAZY.

In regards to food, I absolutely LOVE using tea in my oatmeal. It's so subtle and so very pleasant!
